Tampa Bay remained winless after its 23-19 loss to Cleveland in Week 2. Warren Sapp criticized quarterback Baker Mayfield and nose tackle Vita Vea, saying neither made a play; Mayfield completed 21 of 34 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown.
Speaking on Chris Simms Unbuttoned, Sapp said, “We paid $85 million,” and called the performance “underwhelming.” Mayfield threw a costly interception and had a fourth-quarter incompletion on a potential game-winning drive.
Mayfield signed a three-year, $165 million extension days before Week 1. Vea also signed an extension and is reportedly making $30 million annually. Tampa Bay is scheduled to host the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 27.
