Volunteer team uses ropes to rescue Labrador Penny at Pecca Falls

BBC

Labrador Penny was safely rescued from a ledge at Pecca Falls in Ingleton after falling into the river and becoming stuck on an outcrop 2m above the water. A Cave Rescue Organisation volunteer reached her by rope; North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue supported downstream.

Responders were called after 15:15 BST on Saturday. A volunteer was lowered to Penny on a rope system and hauled back up the gorge with her; the eight-year-old Labrador was reunited with her owners.

Pecca Falls has five drops totalling more than 30m. In March, CRO used a similar rope-and-pulley system to rescue a dog that had fallen 8m and become stuck on a narrow ledge there.
