At the 81st UN General Assembly, Saida Mirziyoyeva called for a more effective UN, citing closer Central Asian cooperation as an example of dialogue easing tensions. Uzbekistan backed UN Security Council expansion and restated its bid for a 2035–36 non-permanent seat.
On Afghanistan, Mirziyoyeva said treating the country solely as a security threat would not solve its problems and that its population should not be left to deal with them alone. Uzbekistan is also due to chair the Non-Aligned Movement from 2027 to 2029 and aims to raise renewables to 54% of its energy mix by 2030.
Mirziyoyeva cited figures showing the economy grew from $50bn (€44bn) to $147bn (€129bn) over a decade and foreign investment exceeded $150bn (€131bn). She put the poverty rate at 4% and said almost 10 million people had moved out of poverty. Google vice-president Karan Bhatia discussed a possible launch of YouTube monetisation in Uzbekistan. Talks with US International Development Finance Corporation chief executive Ben Black covered joint transport and healthcare projects, with Uzbekistan expressing interest in expanding cooperation.
