Catalan police arrested Josep Juanpere’s partner in Madrid over her alleged involvement in the architect’s death, nine months after he died at his Baqueira home. His nephew, who found his body, is in a coma, El Confidencial reports.
Juanpere, 72, became unwell on 24 December 2025 and spent several hours under observation at Vielha hospital. He returned to his Baqueira home and was found dead on 26 December. The first autopsy found no signs of violence and pointed to a coronary problem; a court in Vielha opened a sealed investigation.
The partner is awaiting an appearance before the court, which will determine her legal status and any precautionary measures. Police have also carried out searches, but investigators have not disclosed what evidence led them to examine a possible criminal death. Her arrest is not a finding of guilt, and she remains presumed innocent.
