The U.S. Air Force named General Atomics’ FQ-42A Vengeance and Anduril’s FQ-44A Fury, its first two collaborative combat aircraft prototypes. It plans to buy 150 initially, with the fleet expected to reach 500 by 2032.
Motley Fool estimates that 500 drones at a reported average of $20 million each could mean $10 billion in hardware spending, or $5 billion for each company if orders are split evenly. The split is not set, and these figures are projections, not announced production awards.
Anduril has also received a separate contract for autonomy software, but its value was not disclosed. It is one of six companies shortlisted to bid for other software work.
