Waymo ended its Phoenix partnership with Uber and said it plans to launch its own app in Austin and Atlanta in January 2028. Uber launched a Wayve robotaxi service in London this month with about 15 cars and a safety driver; it has also invested in Lucid and Nuro, with robotaxis due in San Francisco, and agreed with Pony.ai to put more than 2,000 vehicles on European roads. Insider Monkey argues Uber’s ability to aggregate rider demand at scale could be valuable to autonomous operators.
