President Donald Trump said Sept. 26 that he rejected Iran’s proposal for a seven-day pause in military action and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He called the offer unacceptable, but did not explain his decision to reporters.
Iran presented the proposal during the UN General Assembly this week. The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 25 that it also called for resuming nuclear talks and lifting the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports; the paper said Trump privately doubted Iran would meet his demands.
