Trump shares 13 critical posts about Salazar as Florida House race tightens

NEWSWEEK

Trump shared screenshots of 13 critical X posts about Florida Rep. Maria Salazar on Truth Social after she said some of his immigration enforcement had gone too far. Polls put Salazar and Democrat Eliott Rodriguez nearly even; prediction markets favor her.

The screenshots, shared Saturday, included calls to primary or replace Salazar; Trump also shared a Washington Post article about backlash to her comments. In her September 17 campaign ad outside the White House, Salazar said 50% of the 50,000 people detained in July had no criminal record. She won the August GOP primary, so Trump cannot simply substitute another Republican for her on the November ballot, though he could support a primary challenger if she seeks reelection in 2028.

On Sunday, Polymarket and Kalshi put Salazar’s win odds at 64% and Rodriguez’s at 37%; on September 1, her odds were 82% on Polymarket and 78% on Kalshi. Two polls of 600 likely voters were close: a September 8–13 survey sponsored by House Majority PAC gave Salazar a 47%–46% lead, while a Rodriguez-campaign-sponsored poll conducted August 25–30 found a 45%–45% tie.
