Donald Trump said his summit with Xi Jinping produced “great strides” but disclosed no specific political, economic or security outcomes after the Chinese president’s first U.S. visit in more than a decade. He said they planned to meet in person twice more before year’s end.
U.S. ambassador to China David Perdue said the U.S. had evidence that China had “directly or indirectly” supported Iran in the war and that Trump challenged Xi over it. Perdue said China committed not to assist; Trump confirmed they discussed the war but offered no details when asked about possible progress in the Strait of Hormuz.
Xi received a red-carpet welcome at Joint Base Andrews, attended a White House state dinner and toured Trump’s construction projects. Trump hinted at unspecified agricultural action and promoted renaming AI “super intelligence”; Chinese state media reported Xi called for human control of AI and its development for humanity’s benefit.
