Trump says he and Xi favor keeping AI rules unchanged

Donald Trump said AI would be a major topic in his Thursday meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but said both leaders want to leave the current situation unchanged. Trump identified the U.S. guardrail as the Justice Department.

Last week, Trump said the United States already had safeguards to regulate and prosecute AI companies. His position appeared to play down industry leaders’ concerns that AI misuse could harm people.
