Police detain 31-year-old after Polish abbey knife attack; local media report one dead, at least four hurt

A knife attack at a Benedictine Sisters monastery in Jaroslaw, southern Poland, left one person dead and at least four injured, local media reported Thursday. Police said a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained; the motive was not immediately clear.

Sister Barbara Dendor told state broadcaster TVP Info that Father Stanisław had died and Father Marek was in serious condition. She said there were other casualties but had no further details.
