Toyota plans to start deploying roughly 400,000 robots across its manufacturing network in 2028; the humanoid share remains unspecified. Workers are reportedly training its wheeled, two-handed ELEY by demonstrating assembly movements with finger-shaped jigs.
The target divides into about 150,000 robots at Toyota's automotive plants and 250,000 at group-company sites making components and materials. The reported $6.42 billion in annual investment covers new robots as well as replacement of existing machines, according to Manufacturing Dive.
