U.S. users who accessed cvs.com, cvshealth.com or the CVS app before July 27 can submit claims by Nov. 16 for up to $10 in a proposed privacy settlement. Claims without proof of use are capped at $5; final court approval is pending.
The lawsuit alleged CVS shared user data from its website and app with advertising company Criteo; CVS and Criteo denied wrongdoing. CVS said it believes its privacy practices comply with applicable laws and agreed to settle to avoid the expense and distraction of prolonged litigation. Claims can be filed online or by mail; mailed forms must be postmarked by Nov. 16.
The approval hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1. If the settlement is approved, valid claimants will be paid 120 days after approval and completion of any appeals process. Payments may be sent by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or check; checks expire 180 days after they are issued.
