Tom Rahill won the top prize in this year's Burmese python hunt after capturing 96 snakes in Everglades National Park, earning $10,000. The park was among the areas open to hunters; officials say removing the invasive snakes is critical to native wildlife.
Other permitted sites included Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area, Everglades and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area, Frog Pond Public Small Game Hunting Area, Holey Land Wildlife Management Area, Rocky Glades Public Small Game Hunting Area, Rotenberger Wildlife Management Area and Southern Glades Wildlife and Environmental Area.
