Daycare driver Tametria Norry, assistant director Sabrina Powe and aide Amilya Hardin were indicted after 6-year-old Winter Jones died following nearly six hours in a van. A report says Norry said she skipped the required walk-through because she was hot.
The Shelby County district attorney's office said all three face charges of aggravated child neglect, criminally negligent homicide, and destruction of and tampering with governmental records. WMC reported that all three pleaded not guilty.
Jones was found in a van outside Kid University on Aug. 13 and pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Tennessee Department of Human Services later found the daycare noncompliant with transportation requirements, citing incomplete vehicle checks and walk-throughs and an inaccurate transportation log, the district attorney's office said.
