District officials said a Boone County High School teacher in Kentucky was placed on administrative leave after students complained about a word-search puzzle containing a racial slur. The teacher was disciplined Thursday, and the district plans to seek maximum disciplinary меры.
The district did not identify the slur and said it would not provide more details. Principal Stacey Black apologized to the school community, thanked students who raised the issue and said counselors would meet with affected students.
A parent told WCPO that the slur was the first word to find in the puzzle and was also spelled out in its body. Some students defended the teacher and said they believed it was distributed by mistake. Matt Johnson, developer of Word Search Labs, where the puzzle had been available, told WCPO he suspected a user altered it after it was pulled from the site.
