Zsazsa, LaTonya and Rodney Floyd are seeking financial records for the GoFundMe organized by their brother Philonise after George Floyd’s death. Their attorney’s letter says it collected about $19 million and argues the siblings, as heirs, are entitled to part of the funds.
TMZ reported that attorney Kayla Moncier sent the letter to Philonise on Aug. 11, giving him 20 days to respond; she said she hoped to resolve the issue amicably. Globe said the fundraiser has since been paused and deactivated on GoFundMe.
GoFundMe’s 2020 report listed $14.7 million raised for the family from more than 500,000 donors, compared with the letter’s estimate of about $19 million; the article does not explain the difference. Philonise previously said donations would help pay funeral and burial costs, counseling, court-related travel and other family expenses, with some going to George’s estate for his children and their education.
