The Athletic ranked Boston College eighth on its “Middling 10” of college football’s most average programs. The ranking cited BC’s 231-202-2 record since joining the Big East in 1991 and one conference title in that span.
The Athletic also noted BC won six or seven games in 10 of the 12 seasons from 2013 through 2024 and has not finished ranked since 2007. Boston College’s all-time record is 711-549-6 (.563). The publication listed 1940—an undefeated season capped by a Sugar Bowl win over Tennessee—as the Eagles’ best, and 1978, when they went 0-11, as their worst.
