RPG studio Summer Eternal wants to give players a democratic say in its direction, backed by control of 5% of profits, and offer freelancers ownership stakes and profit-sharing.
The proposed player stake would not be a direct cash payout; it is intended to give players influence over studio decisions. Summer Eternal was co-founded by former ZA/UM designers Argo Tuulik and Dora Klindžić, alongside developer and organizer Aleksandar Gavrilović.
Summer Eternal’s first product is Summer Eternal Anthology Vol. 1, combining essays on games and the industry with a design-document preview that formally announces its first game, Project Red Rooster. Contributors include Dragon Age writer David Gaider and Yanis Varoufakis. The anthology was available for preorder for one more day when the article was published.
