Meta showcased Muse, a customizable AI agent for everyday tasks, at Meta Connect; it then topped Apple’s App Store charts. Zuckerberg says each agent has a secure computer for users’ data; Meta plans a future version that he says would keep the company from seeing it.
Users can customize an agent’s name, appearance and personality. Muse is also being integrated into Meta’s AI glasses, which have drawn criticism over fears of casual surveillance. Zuckerberg previewed a handheld “Muse charm” that can activate the agent on the go.
Online responses were mixed, with some people expressing concern about Meta’s access to personal information. Investor Jason Calacanis called for strong defenses and third-party testing. Zuckerberg said Meta delayed Muse’s release by several months to focus on safety and security.
