Executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers say they want Strange New Worlds’ fifth and final season to take a “real classic” Star Trek approach, with no more genre swings.
The Season 4 finale, “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” brings Celia Rose Gooding’s Uhura together with her Original Series counterpart after a black-hole and white-hole anomaly. The two eventually switch places and work together to find a solution.
Goldsman said the episode was initially developed as a more definitive ending, but the producers changed the script once they knew they could end the series six episodes later. They declined to say what they cut, citing potential Season 5 spoilers.
