Toronto Maple Leafs forward Steven Lorentz cleared waivers Friday after being placed on them as the club cut its preseason roster. He had 18 points, including seven goals, in 71 games for Toronto last season.
The other players Toronto placed on waivers were Brendan Brisson, Henrik Rybinski, Marshall Rifai, Michael Pezzetta, Philippe Myers, Ryan Tverberg and Vinni Lettieri. Lorentz is under contract through 2027-28 at a $1.35 million average annual value.
Lorentz told Daily Faceoff Toronto that he approached training camp focused on earning a lineup spot, regardless of his contract or experience. The article expects he may miss opening night but could be among the Leafs’ early call-ups, citing the team’s injuries during the 2025-26 season.
