Star Meat Delivery is recalling 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat sold nationwide after officials said the meat was produced without inspection and bore a false USDA inspection mark. FSIS classified the recall as Class I, its most urgent category.
Star Meat Delivery began the recall on Sept. 22. The products include ground pork, pork chorizo, pork chops, goat cuts, beef oxtail, beef short ribs and other bulk-packed meat. They were distributed under the A&D Foods label with the false establishment mark “EST. 1363,” though some retail packages may have been relabeled or may not show A&D Foods. No illnesses or injuries had been reported as of Sept. 22.
FSIS says uninspected meat may pose a serious health danger because it may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants. Consumers who bought products matching the recall descriptions should not eat them; FSIS advises throwing them away or returning them to the place of purchase.
