A 3-year-old wandered alone before Waterbury police found her mother dead

Police found a 34-year-old woman dead at her Waterbury, Connecticut, home after responding around 11 a.m. to reports of her 3-year-old daughter wandering alone. Authorities said the child showed no signs of abuse or neglect; the investigation is ongoing.

Sgt. Joseph Morais said the woman showed signs of having been dead for some time. Police reported no obvious signs of foul play.
