Sylvester Stallone says his pursuit of a highly conditioned physique for “Rocky” became an obsession: he became bulimic, reached 2.6% body fat while making “Rocky III,” and used steroids, which he said took a “terrible toll.”
Stallone said he used steroids in six-week-on, six-week-off cycles and maintained that achieving that level of fitness required “additives and drugs.”
He said he felt somewhat liberated making “Cop Land,” in which he played a partially deaf, overweight character. Stallone no longer sees his body as armor and said that, if he could do it again, he would let someone else carry the banner and avoid doing his own stunts.
