WalletHub’s analysis of more than 180 large U.S. cities ranked St. Louis first for people with disabilities, ahead of Minneapolis and Columbus. It said cities near the bottom often have higher living costs and fewer accessible services.
The assessment used 33 indicators across the economy, quality of life and health care. WalletHub said top-ranked cities combine accessible public infrastructure, reliable medical care and relatively affordable living costs; it also reported that more than 28% of U.S. adults with disabilities live on fixed incomes.
Juneau, Alaska, was among the lowest-ranked cities. WalletHub said cities near the bottom typically face high living costs, limited specialized health care, fewer accessible public services and fewer employment opportunities tailored to people with disabilities.
