South River closed its elementary and middle schools Thursday and Friday after a power outage disrupted their HVAC systems and may have contributed to mold in some areas. Contractors are inspecting and cleaning; test results are pending, and Monday’s reopening is uncertain.
The connected buildings serve grades 3–5 at the elementary school and grades 6–8 at the middle school. The district’s pre-K–second-grade primary school and South River High School are unaffected.
