Smotrich and Strock urge rejection of Board of Peace Gaza plan

Jerusalem Post

Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Orit Strock urged Netanyahu to reject the Board of Peace’s Gaza plan, saying understandings with the US and the board require full demilitarization before reconstruction, foreign-force deployment or IDF withdrawal.

The Board of Peace proposed a six-month Gaza recovery framework with $2.45 billion for 66 funded programs covering shelter, debris clearance, water, hospitals, schools, energy, roads and jobs. The plan would be advanced alongside deployment of the International Stabilization Force and what the board described as weapons decommissioning.

The ministers said a cabinet decision authorized the entry of only 200 ISF soldiers—not 500 or 5,000—and that the force should implement demilitarization, not supervise the IDF. They alleged Hamas continues to arm, train and attack daily, leaving no scope for immediate reconstruction. They said rebuilding should not occur in areas threatening Israeli communities even after demilitarization and opposed weapons acquisition for forces in Gaza. They called the Palestinian Authority law they said would govern the Strip antisemitic, claiming it treats the murder of Jews as a commandment rather than an offense and provides a reward.
