White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino drew criticism from Republicans and others after posting an apparent AI-generated White House party video amid rising living costs. He later shared another AI party video and mocked critics.
The clip depicted Scavino in a tuxedo with a woman appearing to be his second wife, Erin Elmore, and Lara Trump in ballgowns. They were shown being pushed on a gold luggage cart by Eric Trump as confetti fell, before President Donald Trump appeared. Scavino said he felt inclined to share his own post-State Dinner party material “in complete transparency.”
Conservative activist Carrie Prejean Boller called it out of touch with people struggling to afford groceries, gas and mortgage payments; Jonah Goldberg, editor of The Dispatch, sarcastically called it the midterm messaging the GOP needed. The report links cost-of-living pressures to the Iran war and Trump administration tariffs. Scavino later reshared a separate AI-generated party scene featuring Trump, Elon Musk, Marco Rubio and Xi Jinping, while deriding critics upset about AI content. NBC News polling cited by the report gave Democrats a 9-point advantage over Republicans on taking control of Congress ahead of November’s midterms.
