Cadillac's Formula 1 team has appointed Craig Skinner as chief development engineer, Eric Blandin as head of aerodynamics and Tim Lean as a chief engineer leading aerodynamics modeling and simulation, ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Skinner joins after 20 years at Red Bull, where he was chief designer, and will report to chief technical officer Nick Chester. Blandin, also reporting to Chester, has more than a decade of experience with Mercedes-AMG Petronas and was deputy technical director at Aston Martin. Lean spent 10 years at McLaren, six at Red Bull and more than five at Ferrari, where he was principal aerodynamicist.
Team principal Marcin Budkowski called the hires a “vital step” in Cadillac's technical evolution, saying they could help build a more integrated organization and improve on-track performance. The team is still seeking its first points this season; Sergio Pérez finished 10th on track at Monaco but was demoted after a penalty served after the checkered flag.
