Mets designate Xzavion Curry for assignment; Phillip Abner likely to take his roster spot

Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors reported that the Mets designated Xzavion Curry for assignment; lefty Phillip Abner, claimed by New York on Wednesday, is likely to take his roster spot. Curry allowed 13 earned runs on 22 hits in 21⅓ innings over nine Mets appearances.

Across those nine appearances, Curry struck out 16% of batters faced and had a 9.6% walk rate. He pitched for Cleveland in 2022-24 and Miami in 2024-25, then signed a minor-league deal with New York in May after opening the season with Tigres de Quintana Roo in Mexico.
