SB Nation

The Athletics beat Houston 6-5 in Sacramento on Friday, scoring six times in the sixth after trailing 1-0. Jacob Lopez allowed one run on two hits over six innings; the Rangers’ loss left the Astros tied for first in the AL West at 79-81.

Oakland broke through in the sixth after a Houston error and Donovan Walton’s sacrifice bunt moved runners into scoring position. Michael Stefanic’s two-run single put the A’s ahead, Jonah Heim added an RBI single, and Henry Bolte hit a two-run triple before scoring on Lawrence Butler’s groundout.

Houston answered with a solo homer in the seventh and three runs in the eighth, but Hogan Harris got a ninth-inning double play to end the game and earn his 17th save. Lopez was making his final start after allowing 10 earned runs in 2⅔ innings in his previous outing; he finishes the season with a 5.47 ERA.
