Shropshire Council has approved demolition of the Oxon Priory, a former pub in Shrewsbury partly destroyed by fire in October 2025. Plans call for phased demolition down to slab level, with no restoration, landscaping or redevelopment proposed in the submission.
The fire on 6 October 2025 brought crews from five stations. West Mercia Police said three boys—one aged 12 and two aged 13—were bailed after being arrested on suspicion of arson. The brewer’s agents had previously said the fire appeared to have started in first-floor accommodation above the bar.
Demolition documents say work will begin with unaffected single-storey sections before moving to the fire-damaged parts. The building is a mid-to-late-19th-century former vicarage. Greene King, which owned the pub that had closed months before the fire, said it was considering next steps.
