Shemar Moore, 56, says maintaining the physique and stamina required to play Hondo in “S.W.A.T. Exiles” is getting harder, but he is back in the gym and eating right to prepare for season 2. He says he has no plans to quit the physically demanding role.
Moore says each episode takes about eight days to film, with three or four days of action, including chases, fights, jumps from fire escapes and hanging from a helicopter. He said fitness is necessary to meet those demands, not just for appearance, and that his trainer of 20 years is helping him prepare.
“S.W.A.T. Exiles” premieres Friday, Sept. 25, on STARZ. Moore has played Hondo since 2017 and says the spinoff explores the character’s perseverance and search for purpose; he described saying goodbye to his longtime costars as hard.
