PEOPLE looks back at five celebrity weddings of the 1990s: Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s secret Baltimore ceremony, David and Victoria Beckham’s castle nuptials, and the weddings of Mariah Carey and Tommy Mottola, Iman and David Bowie, and Céline Dion and René Angélil.
The Smiths kept their 1997 Baltimore wedding secret and hosted about 100 guests. The Beckhams married at Luttrellstown Castle in 1999, with 29 guests at the ceremony and about 230 at the reception; Victoria wore a champagne Vera Wang gown with a 20-foot train. Carey’s 1993 Vera Wang dress had a 27-foot train, while Iman and Bowie held ceremonies in Switzerland and Italy in 1992. Dion and Angélil’s 1994 Montréal wedding aired live in Canada.
Carey and Mottola divorced in 1998. Iman said in 2021 that she still felt married to Bowie, who died in 2016; Angélil also died in 2016, from throat cancer.
