Several men arrested on suspicion of Explosives Act offences near RAF Fairford

A major incident was declared near RAF Fairford after several men were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act. Residents of a nearby village were evacuated to a leisure centre, and police say they believe the incident is contained.

Whitehall officials say counter-terror police are leading the investigation. A US Air Force spokesperson said its personnel “remain vigilant”; the force has used RAF Fairford to deploy American bombers during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
