At the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York, Selena Gomez said she hopes to have children someday, two years after disclosing that health issues prevent her from carrying a pregnancy. She has said surrogacy and adoption are possible paths to motherhood.
Gomez told Vanity Fair in 2024 that lupus, bipolar disorder and other medical issues would put her life and a baby’s in jeopardy if she carried a child. She said she had grieved that reality.
Days before Gomez’s festival appearance, her husband, producer Benny Blanco, told the Today show he was “pressing” to start a family. On a podcast, he said he was excited to become a father and wanted to be the best parent and partner.
