Max Scherzer says he is not ready to publicly discuss whether he will continue playing and will wait until the season ends to address his MLB future. In his 19th season, the 42-year-old Blue Jays starter is 3-8 with a 6.07 ERA in 16 starts.
Scherzer has a 1.362 WHIP over 72.2 innings. He has been placed on the 15-day injured list twice this season and suffered a setback during a July rehab assignment.
A return in 2027 would give Scherzer a 20th MLB season. He has eight All-Star selections, three Cy Young Awards, two World Series titles and 3,543 career strikeouts, ninth-most in MLB history.
