Luka Doncic says he “won’t rest” until the Lakers win more NBA championships, making a title run his goal for 2026–27. With training camp opening Sept. 29, he enters the season as Los Angeles’ central star after LeBron James left for Philadelphia following eight seasons.
The Lakers reshaped the roster around Doncic, trading for 7-foot-2 center Walker Kessler and extending Austin Reaves for four years. They also added guards Collin Sexton and Quentin Grimes, along with Kevon Looney, Matisse Thybulle and Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Last season, Doncic averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 assists and 7.1 rebounds, made the All-NBA First Team and finished fourth in MVP voting. A hamstring injury limited him late; the Lakers were swept by Oklahoma City in the second round after he was sidelined.
