Steve Sarkisian rejected an anonymous coach’s claim that Texas was “soft” after the No. 1 Longhorns beat No. 14 Tennessee 20-17 in Knoxville on Saturday. Texas had 10 sacks and limited the Volunteers to 70 rushing yards on 44 carries, remaining undefeated.
The Athletic published the criticism Friday from an anonymous coach whose team had played Texas earlier in the season. The coach praised the Longhorns’ speed and ability but said they lacked an edge and were “soft everywhere.”
Sarkisian said he thought “they had eight guys get carted off,” questioned who had written the piece and said they “might want to write another article.”
