Rob Lowe called single life in 1980s Hollywood “incredible” on the Sept. 23 “Chicks in the Office” podcast. He recalled nights out without social media or cell-phone cameras, when friends might not show up, and said the uncertainty was part of the era’s appeal.
Lowe said he believes fame is now a “burden” for young stars and that they have less fun than he did early in his career, including during films such as The Outsiders and St. Elmo’s Fire. He married Sheryl Berkoff in 1991. In a 2022 interview, he said he focused on his career until age 26, then on spirituality, recovery, marriage and family.
