Rivals announced it will charge high school athletes $500 through Rivals Recruits for a scout evaluation, report, grade and ranking consideration. The site says payment does not guarantee a rating, ranking, star designation or any specific evaluation result.
Rivals says the service is not limited to football and is intended to reach beyond FBS prospects, including athletes who may compete at FCS, Division II, NAIA or Division III levels. The company says more than 1 million boys play high school football, while it typically has about 6,600 star-rated prospects across the sophomore, junior and senior classes at a time. On3 founder Shannon Terry separately said 0.6% of high school football players had a Rivals star rating in 2025, calling limited coverage a capacity gap rather than a talent gap.
