Rick Rizzs' final Mariners broadcast is set for Game 162

Seattle's Game 162 is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. PST, with Logan Gilbert starting and Rick Rizzs calling his final game from the Mariners' radio booth. The club won the previous night.

Justin Verlander and Kirby Yates made their final regular-season appearances in the same game, only the third time in MLB history both starting pitchers were pitching in their last regular-season outing. Yates made his first career start against Verlander in his 12-year career, throwing 1.2 innings before retiring. The Phillies activated Jesús Luzardo before facing Tampa Bay; he was available from the bullpen as Philadelphia needed a win to guarantee a playoff berth.

Kade Anderson left the previous game after a 104-mph ball struck his pitching arm; X-rays were negative, and the contact appeared to cause bruising without hitting bone. Seattle's BBWAA chapter named Randy Arozarena team MVP, Logan Gilbert Most Valuable Pitcher and Cal Raleigh the Larry Stone Good Guy Award winner. Milwaukee players voted Christian Yelich the franchise's first official captain, with Robin Yount's blessing.
