Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen is out for the season with a shoulder injury suffered while warming up Saturday, manager Dave Roberts said. With the playoffs less than a week away, the Dodgers plan to call up a fresh arm for Sunday's regular-season finale.
Treinen, 38, returned from the injured list on Sept. 2 after more than two months out with right elbow inflammation. He made seven appearances after returning but was not used in high-leverage situations, MLB.com’s Sonja Chen reported.
Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett said Treinen might have reached the end of his career, citing three years of shoulder, forearm and elbow injuries. No retirement decision was reported; Treinen is on an expiring contract with Los Angeles.
