Raoni Barcelos was reportedly awake and conscious at a local hospital after being stretchered out following his UFC Vegas 121 main event against Raul Rosas Jr. UFC awarded Rosas a fifth-round knockout but had not said what caused Barcelos to lose consciousness.
After a fence-side takedown midway through the fifth round, Barcelos lost consciousness within seconds; Rosas stopped and alerted referee Herb Dean. Replays did not establish the cause, and the UFC had not issued an official update on Barcelos’ condition at publication. The knockout was recorded at 1:38 of the round.
Barcelos had been ahead on all three judges’ scorecards entering the fifth round, so Rosas needed a finish to win. The 21-year-old’s victory extended his winning streak to six.
