Arizona rallied from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to beat Washington State 34-24 on Saturday night. Noah Fifita threw four touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to freshman Caleb “Jet” Smith late in the third quarter.
Fifita completed 22 of 36 passes for 297 yards. Tre Spivey had two first-half touchdown catches and finished with seven receptions for 129 yards; Arizona ran for 150 yards, including 103 in the second half.
Arizona’s defense allowed just 22 yards over a five-possession stretch as the Wildcats moved from a 17-14 halftime deficit to a 14-point lead. The win puts Arizona at 3-1 for the fourth straight season; it hosts Cincinnati next Saturday night as it returns to Big 12 play.
