Nebraska opened Big Ten play with a 31-13 road win over Michigan State, extending its 24-13 lead with Vince Genatone’s fourth-quarter touchdown. Anthony Colandrea passed for 212 yards and two touchdowns, and the Huskers’ defense recorded six sacks and two interceptions.
Nebraska led 24-10 at halftime after a 14-play, 74-yard drive that took 5:58 and ended with Genatone’s first touchdown. Michigan State added a third-quarter field goal, but Donovan Jones forced and recovered a fumble, and Williams Nwaneri blocked a 52-yard field-goal attempt.
Kwazi Gilmer caught four passes for 100 yards, including a 44-yard reception for the game’s first touchdown. Nebraska ran for 157 yards on 41 carries, and Colandrea added 66 rushing yards.
