Querétaro beat Chivas 2-0 in Guadalajara, ending the hosts’ unbeaten home run in the Apertura 2026. Ali Avila scored after a Luis Romo defensive error, and Mateo Coronel added the second on a counterattack; Omar Govea was sent off late.
Querétaro had not beaten Chivas in Guadalajara since 2014. Chivas remained second in the Apertura 2026 standings after the loss, though the report said América could overtake them. A close-range goal by Ángel Sepúlveda was ruled out for a foul by Santiago Sandoval.
Both teams are due to be off during next week’s FIFA break. Chivas will play Club América in a friendly in the United States before facing Atlas in the Clasico Tapatío; Querétaro are set to host Atlante when action resumes.
