‘Primetime’ closes with Bill Conradt’s suicide and Dan Plum’s SAG-card news

In “Primetime,” a Texas sting ends when district attorney Bill Conradt dies by suicide as police enter his home, while host Chris Hansen watches. One year later, Dan Plum is living in Mesa, Arizona, and learns his work on the show earned him a SAG card.

In the Murphy, Texas, operation, the team and police target Conradt after he responds to online bait from Perverted Justice. When he refuses to leave the house, Hansen has Dan call him; Dan sings “Seasons of Love” as police enter. Hansen is also under pressure to deliver ratings for the primetime slot and faces a looming National Enquirer story about his affair.

The film is inspired by true events and based on a 2007 Esquire article about the 2006 death of a Texas prosecutor. In the real case, the prosecutor had exchanged photos online with a Perverted Justice decoy and shot himself as police entered his home with cameras rolling.
