Taylor Swift’s “Cleveland!”, about Travis Kelce and his hometown, drew divided reviews before the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 3 game against Miami. The Guardian called it “appalling”; USA Today’s Maggie Ruggieri praised its campy chorus.
Swift released “Cleveland!” on her four-song EP “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore” as a tribute to Kelce and his hometown. Reviewers at Slant Magazine, Paste and Pitchfork also criticized the track; Slant’s Michael Savio called it the expanded album’s “most egregious blunder.”
Spotify said Swift became the most-streamed female artist in a single day this year after the EP’s release. A separate report claimed she was the first artist this year to occupy all four top positions simultaneously across major global and US streaming and sales platforms.
